Pasting the wall, not the paper?
I bought some wallpaper at a charity shop.
When I got home I noticed the label said "Paste wall then apply".
Ive never used this type of paper before.
Does anyone have any tips or advice about this sort of paper?
Its that heavy embossed sort of "foamy" wallpaper.
The make is "Martha Stewart".

Most paper esp heavy ones, you have to soak and leave a while then put a little more paste on.
That's why Im not sure.
We did this with a Superfresco wallpaper. It was the embossed 'foamy' type too. However, we did also put some paste on the paper before applying it to the wall. The first sheet we tried soaked (as per convention above) discoloured the backing area behind the embossed sections, so we only put a thin smattering on the paper and more on the wall.
As it was a small room, we pasted a wall, then the paper and found that we could manoeuvre the paper easily into position using paste on each surface. In our case we found that the paste seemed to sink into the wall surface in some areas, so we may have put more on than was recommended in the instructions. Also you cannot paste too far in advance as it will dry out before you have the paper ready to apply. It took a little while longer than usual to dry out but it stayed put extremely well unlike other 'conventional' embossed paper we had elsewhere.
