When I first heard people talking about their cricut, it seemed as if they were chatting about a pet insect and didn't get what it had to do with scrapbooking. When I first saw a Cricut Expression performing, I discerned that I need to have one. The technique the machine and cuts the just right lettering and shapes had me enthralled. I have discovered that there are uses for my Cricut other than just scrapbooking. I have used it to prepare for projects at school, Girls' Camp, parades, making cards, and vinyl lettering projects.
My son was the spotlight at his school. Instead of fretting about his spotlight chart, I used my Cricut to fabricate a ingenuous and pleasant photomontage about him. I found that with an easy slide of a button, I can make the lettering any size that I need. There are also some very nice accents that come with the machine that I use to decorate my projects, big or small. It's really great how this unit was designed to help me.
I'm the person responsible for teacher appreciation at the local school, which means I need to remember every teacher's birthday. On their birthdays, I give the teacher a nice card and a little snack. I have a very small budget from the school, so I use the cricut to make the cards which really saves me time and money, but still looks professionally done. And, I often save enough to get bigger gifts.
Not long ago I was asked to produce a sign for a local parade. I wasn't given much notice and I didn't know if I could have the job done in time. My husband suggested I make use of the Cricut and to my delight the job took less than an hour believe it or not. Our friends all loved our sign and kept inquiring how we made it. I gladly told them about the Cricut, one friend asked if she could use mine. I soon found that Almost everyone I talked to really loved this great little scrapbooking tool.
I can truthfully say I can't imagine life without my Cricut. Well, maybe I can.:) I can remember long nights finishing projects and lots of money spent. Now, I can carry out my projects quickly and I am very pleased with the great results. I started to use my Cricut for scrapbooking, but now I use it for much more. I will never regret the day I invested in that little machine.
I needed a sign for Our summer girls' camp, so I phoned one of the girls in the area. We had bought some vinyl made especially for Cricut Expression machines. After a little coaching, this make was able to stick it on the lettering we teenage girl and needed our camp flag. She was as happy as she could be, and wanted a Cricut for herself. The best part about the experience was that she felt good about her work. The sign looked professional and she did it herself. I was so very thankful that day.

Scrapbooking ... what kind of personal cutter should I purchase?
My husband wants to buy me a personal cutter for my birthday, but I'm not sure which one I want. He wanted to get me a Cricut, but then changed his mind to a Xyron that hooks straight up to your computer so you don't need to buy cartridges, you can just use the fonts on your computer.
I'd like to know if you can recommend a personal cutter. Why would you recommend it, and pros and cons.

The Cricut Expression is a good choice. There is also a cheaper version of it, but that one is limited in the paper size it will cut. The Cricut Expression will cut up to 12 x 12, which is great if you want to do large cutouts to run across a 12 x 12 size scrapbook page. However, it is expensive and you do have to buy cartridges, but it's definitely a time saver in cutting pieces together. It'll give you more time to focus on the creative stuff, like how to design the page.
