Ideas For Scrapbooking - How To Get Started
When it comes to ideas for scrapbooking many people have trouble getting started, they either think that they don't have a creative bone in their body or they act like a deer caught in the headlights. They think that coming up with good ideas for their scrapbook is hard and a big pain! But the reality is, you do not have to look very far to find scrapbooking ideas.
Keep it simple, pull inspiration from the world around you, and begin by gathering up everything that you want to include in your scrapbook theme. Items like: pictures, colored paper, souvenirs, ribbons, lettering, a good pair of scissors, colored pens and anything else that you may need for your (family vacation, sporting event or wedding) theme.
Now if you are one of those people that have problems coming up with scrapbooking page layout ideas! Just take the pictures that you want to use and consider placing your first picture in different positions or use a scrapbook pattern or template that you find on the Internet. Build from there with background colors that make your pictures stand out or colors that match the colors in your photos. (This can be done with colored paper or different colored fabrics.) But if you still need help, there is an abundant amount of information out there; free websites, forums, books or groups/clubs near your home that you can join.
Remember coming up with ideas for scrapbooking is simply a process of arranging and rearranging till you get a look that you like. Keep it simple, don't overwhelm yourself by trying to create a masterpiece just have fun with it, remember there is no right or wrong way when it comes to scrapbooking page layout.

scrapbook gift idea?
its going to be my bestfriends birthday on december 8th, and I wanted to make her a scrapbook. we've been friends for only a few years, but shes always been there for me. anyways, I dont know if I should make the scrapbook JUST about her, or about us. Since this august I moved like 2000 miles away from her (literally, shes in CA im in TX) so I was thinking it might be cute to do like the story of our friendship, but i wouldnt even know how to set it up or anything. I also have this sticker book filled with quotes about friend ship that id like to use. any ideas or suggestions are helpful.

What a sweet idea!
Here are some ideas for you. It's always best to break your project down into sections, so decide on what sections you want and start scrapping!!! Some page ideas:
*Interview other friends and include their thoughts on your best friend.
*Include what makes your friend so special to you.
*That was then, this is now page-highlighting your friendship from the beginning until now
*Include pictures of your room, home, backpack, car/bike, cell phone, locker... that way she can still be part of your life
*Do a funny faces page-this is reserved for all the photos where someone is captured mid-smile, or yawning or closing their eyes (it makes a funny page)
*Include a likes/dislikes page
*Include what's popular now (music, clothes, styles, etc)
*Include what things cost now (gas, milk, hamburgers, etc)
*How did you meet? That could be a fun page
*Pages highlighting fun things you have done, things you should have gotten in trouble for, trips you have taken, etc
*If you friend does sports, don't forget to include pages on those too!
Once you have your sections broken down, you can embellish with the appropriate stickers or die cuts if you like. Don't forget to journal! That is the second most important thing after the pictures! 
You can make your book as simple or elaborate as you wish. I would try to come up with a basic page design and make all the pages similar. Just use the same paper and it will flow nicely. This will help in making the book go faster when assembling.
This is just a start, hope it helps! I think a 12 x 12 book is best to use but you can use other sizes. 12 x 12 seems to give the most options and you can fit the most on it. There are a ton of cute books available to use. Just find one the your friend will love.
